Joel Brown: Turning Loss Into Purpose

Hi, I’m Joel Brown, creator of Maverick Mood Bands and co-author of Two More Minutes.

Everything you see here was created from love, loss, and the journey of finding purpose after losing my son, Maverick. Through grief, I realized how many people silently carry struggles they feel completely alone in. That realization inspired me to create products and communities that help people feel seen, understood, and supported.

Today, everything I create is dedicated to Maverick’s memory and to reminding people everywhere that they are never alone.

At Maverick Mood Bands & Books, our mission is to create connection, comfort, and understanding for children and families navigating life’s biggest emotions.

Through meaningful children’s books and color-coded mood bands connected to the UNIFY Community, we help both children and adults feel seen, supported, and understood.

We believe in encouraging conversations around grief, mental health, love, resilience, and healing in ways that are approachable, compassionate, and meaningful for all ages.

Every product we create is inspired by real experiences and designed to remind people that kindness, understanding, and connection truly can change lives.
